I took this photo of a Korean soldier by the Demilitarized Zone yesterday. It is none of my intention to make fun of him in any way.
He was just outside the store with another soldier eating ice cream and I just realized. Behind all those armor, behind all those poker faces they pull off, they’re still human. It saddens me how North and South Korea are just one land and yet they are so divided.
The Demilitarized Zone is guarded by the two of the biggest military powers in the world. Millions of these soldiers are trained to kill each other. This fact makes this border the most dangerous place in the entire world.But in this photo, all I choose to see is a young adult enjoying the simple pleasures of life.
